She was born and raised in Urzelina and never married, remaining very attached to her older sibling, Vitória.

Upon the return of Vitória from São Tomé, they lived together for many years,
establishing a strong connection with her nephews and later with Vitória’s grandson.

Deeply interested in history and genealogy, Olímpia compiled family stories in a
manuscript that has become a primary source of information for island history.

After the death of the Viscountess and of her son, Olímpia inherited a manor house called Corpo Santo in the town of Velas, where she lived until her death. She also inherited the Bacelada estate, where we are now located. She passed on her inheritance to her nephew Paulo, the only grandson of her sister Vitória and the father of the current owner of Bacelada and manager of the Cabanas da Viscondessa.
